European Workshops & Museum Tours
The European workshops offer unique opportunities to study painting and the art of the great Masters, while experiencing the lifestyles and cultures that produced them. Both artists and non-artists are welcome to participate.
Plein air, studio and figurative workshops will be offered. The workshops are open to artists of all levels and all media (unless specified otherwise). Demonstrations will be in oil.
All of the concepts, principles and techniques are demonstrated and explained by Craig Srebnik in his workshops, followed by individual instruction as the students apply the lessons to their own artwork. He gives students the understanding and skills to develop their own vision and artistic voice by passing on the "Secrets of the Masters"--gained from his research in the U.S., Europe and from his own painting experience.
Non-artists, art lovers, spouses and friends are welcome!
You are welcome to sign-up for the museum tours and social events. See the information listed below.

Secrets from the Masters:
Plein Air Painting in Paris & Art Museums
Wednesday-Thursday, September 10-18, 2008
Have you always wanted to relive the Paris art scene of Sargent and the French and American Impressionists? In addition to painting and visiting art museums, experience the visual poetry found in the architecture and gardens of Paris, savor its lifestyle with Parisians and other participants, indulge your palette with the tastes and smells of French cuisine, shop and explore on your own, take a boat or bus tour of Paris, and immerse yourself in the culture that created so much great art.
We will study principles and techniques of outdoor painting as we paint along the Seine, in the Luxemburg Gardens and the streets of Paris. These include how to quickly establish the composition, pictorial space, perspective, and light and dark masses using Classical and Baroque concepts; selecting and mixing Naturalistic and Impressionistic colors; capturing the fleeting effects of sunlight and changing light conditions; rendering foliage, flowers, water and architecture with painterly techniques; expressing atmosphere, diffraction and the effects of aerial perspective; evoking the mood, character and charm of Paris; and alla prima brush and palette knife techniques.
Figure and portrait painters will find that this workshop helps them paint in a more broad and painterly manner.
The workshop is open to artists of all levels and all media. Demonstrations will be in oil.
